The Military Sea Guard of the Border Service of Ukraine discovered the missile corvette of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation "Pavel Derzhavin" near the city of Chernomorsk, Odesa Region.
Natalya Humenyuk, head of the press service of the regional marine protection department of the Ukrainian State University, reported this.
Military personnel at the border post in the Odesa region alerted to the presence of a Russian missile corvette on the morning of May 12. It was located 19 miles east of the city of Chernomorsk.
After the border guards detected an unknown object with the help of radars, they interrogated it over the radio channel. They noted that it was "Bugel 363".
As Humenyuk explains, this is the call sign of a patrol ship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation with the ship number 363 ㅡ missile corvette "Pavel Derzhavin".
After the detection, the Russian corvette set off in the direction of the Crimean Peninsula.
Now border guards do not rule out that the Russian vessel was off the coast, as it accompanied the US Coast Guard frigate Hamilton (WLC753), which left Odessa on the evening of May 11.
