Sternenko will be sent to a separate cell in the Odessa pre-trial detention center

Earlier, Sternenko's defense demanded that he be sent to the Kyiv SIZO

The Ministry of Justice said that convicted activist Sergey Sternenko will be sent to a separate cell of the Odessa pre-trial detention center.

Earlier, Sternenko's defense demanded that he be sent to the Kyiv SIZO.

"The Odesa pre-trial detention center does not resolve such issues, as it is under the jurisdiction of the court and investigative bodies, since the sentence has not entered into force," the department said.

The Ministry of Justice added that the decision on the transfer of the convicted person (until the sentence has entered into force - Ed.) is not taken by the management of the pre-trial detention center, but by the court and investigative bodies.

"We cannot translate it until there is a sentence (which has entered into force). He is not listed among us. He is not our client," the department said.

At the same time, the legal firm "Miller", which represents the interests of the convict, said that Sternenko would be transferred to a separate cell for security.

"Today, the application of our lawyers to provide security measures to Sergey Sternenko was approved. Sergei will remain in the Odessa pre-trial detention center, and appropriate security measures will be applied to him in the form of transfer to a separate cell," the office's press service reported on Facebook.
