The Verkhovna Rada ratified the Agreement on Joint Aviation Space between Ukraine and the European Union. 311 deputies voted for this decision. This was reported by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
"Thanks to the parliament, Ukraine has become one step closer to the implementation of the Agreement. Of course, there are still a number of important legislative changes to bring Ukraine's requirements and standards closer to European ones," said Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov.
He noted that this is a systemic process that will ultimately lead to the expansion of the geography of flights from Ukraine, increase the level of aviation safety, reduce the bureaucratic burden on Ukrainian airlines, and also help reduce the actual price of tickets for passengers.
"In addition, opportunities are opening up for the development of cargo and mail air transportation. Our goal is to use all the advantages of inclusion in the common airspace as efficiently as possible to turn Ukraine into a key industrial and transport hub of Europe," the minister emphasized.
The agreement on joint aviation space was signed on October 12, 2021, during the 23rd Ukraine-EU summit. The process of creating a joint aviation space of the EU began in 1999.
