In January-June 2021, 1,42 million foreign tourists visited Ukraine, which is 10% more than in the second half of 2020. Such data on Tuesday, August 17, unveiled press service of the State Tourism Development Agency on Facebook.
At the same time, the Agency noted, the specified figure is 31% less than the same period last year (when two million foreigners visited Ukraine) and 75% less than the same period in 2019 (six million tourists).
"70% of foreigners who visited Ukraine are Europeans (10% less than last year's indicator), 24% are representatives of the countries of the Asian region (8% more than in 2020), 2,8% came from North America and only 1,7, XNUMX% are citizens of the African continent," the message says.
The state agency also named the most popular tourist destinations among Ukrainians.
"In the first half of 2021, Ukrainians traveled abroad by 15% more than last year. A total of 5,7 million citizens of Ukraine left. Countries such as Turkey (774 thousand) and Egypt (the number of tourists increased by 88% to 705 thousand) remain traditional tourist destinations," the press service clarified.

Such statistics were influenced by the quarantine restrictions of the states, the rules of entry to one or another country, as well as the situation with the spread of the coronavirus, the Agency summarized.
