The Cabinet of Ministers decided to financially support Ukrainian patriotic cinema and allocated UAH 100 million from the fund to fight against COVID-19. Oleksandr Tkachenko, the head of the Ministry of Culture, wrote about this on the Facebook social network.
And this is at a time when the number of people infected with the coronavirus is constantly growing, and medicine is currently in need of funds to help all those in need.
Such news unleashed a wave of indignation - people do not understand why money is spent unnecessarily. But Alexander Tkachenko assures: maintaining morale is also important.
— These are funds for institutional support of the sphere of culture, provided by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to help the sphere of culture, which suffered during the coronavirus crisis.
Note that this is not the first time funds from the Fund have been taken for other needs. Thus, the total financing for the fight against COVID-19 is about 65 billion hryvnias. In June, the Verkhovna Rada allowed to take money from it to repair roads, while less than 6 billion was spent on health care. And now another 100 million is not going as intended. The moviegoers themselves also do not understand the urgent need for such a step. Moreover, film production is practically frozen.
