The new enemy of Islam: how Muslims around the world rose up against French President Macron

Muslims against Macron. France's war with IslamAnti-French actions in the world

In the Muslim world, a wave of anger and indignation is growing due to the statements of French President Emmanuel Macron about Islam and the Prophet Muhammad - in a number of countries, protests against the French president took place.

France found itself at the epicenter of an international scandal because of Islam. It all started with the murder of the French teacher Samuel Pata, who showed caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in his classes. France reacted harshly to this - rallies were held across the country in memory of the teacher, and the police arrested 11 people, including the parents, grandfather and younger brother of the killer, who turned out to be a Chechen born in Moscow. In total, France planned to deport more than 200 foreigners after the teacher's murder.

French President Emmanuel Macron called the incident a terrorist attack, the teacher was posthumously awarded the country's highest award, the Legion of Honor.

The President called the deceased "the face of the Republic" and a symbol of the desire to defeat terrorists. He said that the teacher was killed because the Islamists know that such "quiet heroes" will not allow them to take over the future of France. Macron promised to continue the fight for freedom: "We will not give up caricatures and drawings, even if others retreat. We will continue this struggle for freedom and reason, because we owe it to you, because we owe it to ourselves, because in France, teacher, enlightenment will never die out."

The head of the French Ministry of Internal Affairs, Gérald Darmanen, ordered the expulsion of 231 suspected extremists from the country and proposed tightening the asylum conditions for citizens of several countries. And the official representative of the French government, Gabriel Attal, called for new amendments to be added to the law on the fight against separatism.

On the day of mourning for the teacher, several government buildings in the cities of France showed the same drawings with which he introduced the students in the lecture on freedom of speech, including a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad.

After that, on October 29 in Nice, a criminal armed with a knife attacked the visitors of the Basilica of Notre-Dame shouting "Allah akbar!". He killed three people before he was detained.

And Muslims all over the world are protesting against France and its president.

Protest actions

Macron provoked the anger of Muslims, saying that "Islam is a religion experiencing a crisis in the whole world."

In Libya, Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iraq and a number of other countries of the Muslim world, actions against the policy of France were held - demonstrators burned the country's flags and photos of Macron.

Turkish President Recep Erdogan publicly called Macron mentally ill and called on his fellow citizens to refrain from buying French goods. He also called President Macron's "anti-Islamic attacks" a threat to Turkey's national security and appealed to European countries to stop the "hate campaign" against Islam. Erdogan compared the attitude towards Muslims in modern Europe with the attitude towards Jews during the Second World War.

Protesters also burned a photo of the French president at the French embassy in Moscow. The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, and the mufti of the republic, Salah-Hadzhi Mezhiev, called Macron a "terrorist".

Even UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov spoke about the situation. The sportsman published a corresponding post on his Instagram with a photo of French President Emmanuel Macron, on whose face a boot print is visible. Nurmagomedov's account is the most popular in the Russian segment of Instagram, with 25 million subscribers.

"May the Almighty disfigure the face of this creature and all his followers who, under the slogan of freedom of speech, insult the feelings of more than one and a half billion believing Muslims. May the Almighty humble them in this life and in the next. Allah is quick in calculation, and you will see it," wrote Habib.

And Iran's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif called Muslims the main victims of the "cult of hatred" cultivated by colonial regimes. Thousands of protests against Macron took place in Syria, Libya, and the Gaza Strip. For example, more than 40 thousand people took part in one of the rallies in Bangladesh alone.

Reforms in France

A series of attacks in France gave additional impetus to Macron's plans to reform the practice of Islam in the country — and, above all, foreign funding received by Muslim communities in the hope of cutting ties with radicals outside France, writes The Washington Post.

The government also announced tough measures against more than 50 Muslim organizations suspected of inciting terrorist violence.

His desire to intervene in the sphere of religion is connected with the desire to facilitate integration, but also to prevent terrorist attacks, which France has become a victim of in recent years.

International scandal

French officials were particularly outraged by the comments of Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, who wrote on Twitter that Muslims have the right to "kill millions of French people for the mass murders of the past." The French government immediately called on Twitter to block Mahathir's account for inciting hatred and violence. Later, his post was deleted.

At the same time, there have already been calls in France to better control immigration and to expel all radical foreigners from the country.

Meanwhile, today, October 31, French goods were withdrawn from sale in Kuwait because of Macron's words. The University of the Republic of Qatar canceled the Week of French Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan released the French ambassador, and the Supreme Council of Clergy of Saudi Arabia condemned France for insulting the Prophet Muhammad and threatened a diplomatic "cold war".
