Don't buy yourself clothes and adopt a groundhog: what ridiculous promises did politicians make in 2020

A selection of absurd or humorous promises made by politicians in 2020.

Politicians' promises are not only populist, unfulfilled, but also ridiculous or frankly ridiculous: they do not lower the rating of the president or "pack up" every person who engages in corruption.

In the spring, the vice-premier is the minister of digital transformation Mikhail Fedorov, talking about the fact that Ukrainians will soon no longer need paper proofs of the place of registration, because a special option for ID card holders will appear in the public services application "Diya", excitedly stated: "I promised myself that I would burn this document (certificate about the place of registration), because for me it is a very important question."

A similar promise was made by the ex-minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Dmitry Dubylet, talking about the abolition of paper work books and the introduction of electronic ones. "I think that in the near future we will be able to afford it. This will be an option. There are people who want to have it in paper form - please. For example, I will willingly burn it on the second day (after the adoption of the relevant legislation)." - Dubylet assured.

And the mayor of Cherkassy, Anatoly Bondarenko, wanting to be closer to the people, said that he would not buy clothes for himself for a year - they say, the financial situation in the country does not allow it.

Finance Minister Marchenko promised not to hide in a sandbox, and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kuleba promised not to sell his dog.

Behave decently so as not to lower the rating of the president People's Deputy Iryna Vereshchuk promised when she became the only candidate for mayor of Kyiv from "Servants of the People": "God forbid, you know, they will lower the rating of the president with their unworthy behavior. I promise that this will never happen. We will fight, but we will fight honestly." A month later, Mrs. Vereshchuk did not do anything obscene, but her "flights" over Kyiv with a green umbrella in her hand and a yellow raincoat for a campaign video elicited mixed reactions from the people of Kyiv and gave birth to a whole series of memes.

The ex-deputy chairman of the Office of the President was distinguished by his zeal for service Serhiy Trofimov, who, after visiting the National Academy of State Administration under the President of Ukraine, decided to finally put an end to the notorious "personnel famine". In his telegram, he wrote: "I am confident that in close cooperation with the Academy we will be able to remove the shortage of personnel in Ukraine from the agenda."

Minister of Social Policy Marina Lazebnaya, talking in one of the interviews about a new mechanism that will allow poor people to receive not payments from the state, but an interest-free loan for starting their own business, she explained: "We will give people a fishing rod, not a fish."

The Minister of Justice clearly did not use legal terminology Denis Malyuska, when talking about the reform of the activities of the Anti-Raiders Commission, he promised to "pack up" every corrupt person. Mr. Minister literally said the following: "I have a request to the legal community, if someone will help me catch the middlemen trading legal decisions of the Ministry of Justice, I will be very, very grateful. I have full coordination with law enforcement agencies, we will quietly and thoroughly "package" every person who is involved in this, but I need your help."

The Minister of Internal Affairs confused his powers a little Arsen Avakov, when, at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, he took up the fight against the infection and wrote on Facebook: "We will act quickly, precisely and decisively - we will reduce the death rate from the effects of the virus dozens of times!".

The mayor of Dnipro was going to act even more decisively Boris Filatov, when he promised to smash the face of People's Deputy Alexander Dubinsky.

Perhaps the most peaceful and harmless promise was given by the chairman of the Luhansk OGA Sergey Gaidai, when, in anticipation of the heat, he promised to adopt the Kharkiv marmot Timka, if he correctly predicted the arrival of spring.
