Energy coal reserves in Ukraine have reached 455 tons, which is not enough to provide the country with electricity.
This was announced on January 25 by Vitaliy Zaichenko, chief dispatcher of NEC "Ukrenergo" at a meeting of the National Commission for Energy and Utilities.
According to him, 163 thousand tons of coal of the anthracite group and 291 thousand tons of coal of the gas group remained at the thermal power plants of Ukraine. Current coal reserves are below the guaranteed 51 tons of anthracite and 471 thousand tons - for gas coal.
"I would like to draw attention to the fact that half of this coal is concentrated at two stations: 116 thousand tons of anthracite at Luhansk TPP and 105 thousand tons at Slavyanskaya TPP, which, as you know, is not working. 220 remain at all other stations. tons, which are absolutely insufficient to ensure the country's energy security," Zaichenko said.
According to him, while the Ukrainian energy system can be balanced thanks to the import of electricity from Belarus, such possibilities are limited.
"Without sufficient supplies of coal, it will be possible to balance either by switching to burning natural gas or by cutting off consumers," Zaichenko concluded.
