Large-scale construction of a bridge across the Dniester began on Ukraine's border with Moldova

The new bridge will become a key object of the Kyiv-Chisinau transport corridor

The large-scale construction of the Yampol Bridge has started on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. This was reported in Ukravtodor.

Preparatory work on one of the flagships of the presidential program "Big construction" has been completed. A contractor is starting to build a bridge over the Dniester River near Yampol. The crossing will become a long-awaited alternative to the ferry crossing at the border crossing "Yampol - Koseut", which has long failed to meet the requirements of the time and the real needs of the residents of the states.

The new bridge across the Dniester will be a key object of the Kyiv-Chisinau transport corridor, which will become the shortest route from the central region of Ukraine to the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe, bypassing the unrecognized Transnistrian Republic.

The construction of the Yampol bridge is being carried out according to the design-build model. This means that the contracting organization Avtostrada Group of Companies is engaged in both design and construction. The solutions provide for the most modern methods and technologies of work performance. First of all, in part of the construction of an almost 700-meter flyover across the Dniester.

Works on the object are carried out around the clock. The workers have already drilled and concreted 12 piles, which will be the foundation of the future supports of the bridge (15 piles are required for one support). Drilling is carried out with the help of specialized equipment that can work with complex soils. We are talking about two newest powerful Bauer drilling rigs with a drilling depth of up to 50 meters.

Also, on the construction site, the installation of the concrete products plant, the production capacity of which reaches 113 cubic meters per hour, has been completed. The plant will satisfy the priority needs for high-quality concrete at the stage of drilling operations and will guarantee uninterrupted work at the facility throughout the year. Startup debugging works are currently being carried out.

"A full-scale complex of construction works on the object will start already at the beginning of spring with the onset of favorable weather conditions. We estimate that during the peak period, the project will involve about 500 workers and more than 100 units of special equipment," Ukravtodor said.

The construction of the bridge is planned to be completed in two years, the connection point of the bridge has been agreed with the Moldovan side. The corresponding intergovernmental agreement will be signed soon.

The length of the bridge will reach 1409 meters, and the maximum height of the supports (there will be 24 of them) is 50 meters, which is ten meters higher than a standard 12-story building.

Construction of a modern common checkpoint is also planned. The entrance to it from the Ukrainian side will be the T-02-02 highway Mogilev-Podolsky – Yampol – Bershad – Uman. On the other side, it will join the Moldovan highway M2 Chisinau - Soroka.

In addition, at the present time, the transport connection between Ukraine and Moldova across the Dniester River in the region is provided by a bridge located in the area of ​​the Mogilev-Podolsky - Otach checkpoint and a bridge at the Bronnitsa - Ungur checkpoint, on which the permitted weight of vehicles does not exceed 3,5 tons, and only the ferry crossing operates at the Yampol-Koseut border crossing, but it has long since failed to meet the requirements of the time and the real needs of the citizens of the states. In fact, the entire transport flow passes through the international checkpoint "Mogilev-Podolsky - Otach".
