Kuleba spoke out against the re-closing of Ukraine's borders

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmitry Kuleba, believes that it is not necessary to close the borders and call on Ukrainians to return to their homeland en masse

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmitry Kuleba, believes that it is not worth it to close the borders and call on Ukrainians to return to their homeland en masse. Even despite the deterioration of the situation with the coronavirus and the tightening of quarantine in the country.

Kuleba announced this during an online briefing today, October 13.

— Absolutely unanimous opinion: although COVID remained the same, it is now impossible to act in the same way as governments did at the beginning of the pandemic. I hear this position from international partners, and you and I are also aware of this reality, - noted the minister.

Kuleba said that he intends to oppose the introduction of a ban on the entry of foreigners and the idea of calling on Ukrainians to return home en masse if this issue appears on the agenda.

— We, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with other authorities, at the beginning of the pandemic fulfilled the function of assisting Ukrainians in returning home. It was an unprecedented large-scale operation... A new reality has already arrived: everyone who wanted to, returned, and everyone who decided to stay where they are, stayed. Therefore, it is now important not to generate new migration flows, because every movement is putting oneself in danger, - the head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
