A state of emergency will be introduced throughout Ukraine, except for the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This was announced at a briefing by the Secretary of the National Security Council, Aleksey Danilov. He added that a state of emergency has long been imposed on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, so it is not being imposed there now.
"Depending on expediency, regional bodies will make one or another decision by territory. It may or may not appear radically in our life," he noted.
A state of emergency will be introduced for 30 days. If necessary, it can be extended for another 30 days.
State of emergency assumes:
- strengthening the protection of public order
- restriction of traffic and self-examination
- checking citizens' documents
- if necessary, a curfew may be introduced
The Secretary of the National Security Council said that the state of emergency will change depending on the territory.
The stricter regime will be on the borders with Russia and Belarus.
Now the decision must be approved by the Verkhovna Rada.
