This winter, Ukraine had almost zero reserves of artillery shells. The situation was eased by the mass production of drones, as well as help from Western allies. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi interview CBS channel.
"We understand that the remains of our artillery were almost empty, almost zero. I'm talking about shells in the month of December. And this story with the law (about aid from the USA, — ed.) goes with them, it started a long time ago, it’s been going since the fall, to be honest,” — the president said.
He added that in December there was an ammunition crisis in Ukraine. At the same time, the situation was eased by the fact that our country had started mass production of drones of various distances and powers a year earlier.
Zelensky noted that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin took advantage of Ukraine's artillery famine and completely destroyed Avdiyivka.
"I didn't have the strength to hold on. There was nothing. Then we were helped by our partners, both the US and European partners, with missiles for air defense, and we got through the winter. This is a great help, we appreciate it. If it weren't for our partners, this winter would be very difficult for us." he added.
