The Japanese government has expanded sanctions against Russia, banning the supply of components for the aviation and space industries, as well as materials and parts that can be used in the production of drones. The restrictions will come into effect a week from April 7, according to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
According to press release department, the list prohibited for export to Russia also included:
- steel and its products;
- aluminum and its products;
construction machines (hydraulic excavators, bulldozers, etc.), engines for aviation; - electrical equipment and its parts, radio equipment for navigation, generators;
- aircraft and space vehicles, spare parts for them, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles;
- optical, photographic, measuring equipment and parts for it;
- all toys with wheels, as well as assembly models and models, puzzles and puzzles.
Sanctions are being introduced in response to the Russian military operation in Ukraine. In February 2022, Japan froze the assets of VEB.RF, Promvzyazok Bank and Bank "Russia", and also strengthened the issuance of permits for the export of semiconductors to the Russian Federation. In June, the Japanese authorities imposed sanctions against Rossilhospbank and MKL and announced a ban on the export of goods to the Russian Federation — in particular, the supply of trucks was prohibited. In January 2023, Japan banned the export of vaccines and medical equipment. In February, it included 48 individuals and 73 legal entities from the Russian Federation in the list of sanctions.
