Billionaire Elon Musk has sued ChatGPT developer OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman. It is reported Reuters.
As the publication notes, Musk sued because OpenAI and Sam Altman abandoned the company's initial mission — "to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity, not for profit."
The lawsuit alleges that Altman and company co-founder Greg Brockman initially approached Musk with a proposal to create a non-profit open source company. In violation of the contract, as the billionaire's lawyers note, the company focused on making money and kept the design of GPT-4, its most advanced model of artificial intelligence, "completely secret."
Reuters adds that Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but stepped down from the board in 2018. Altman was also fired last year, however, after a few days he returned to the company with a new board.
"He (Musk, — ed.) appealed to the court with a request to oblige OpenAI to make its research and technologies publicly available and to prohibit the startup from using its assets, including the most advanced AI model GPT-4, to obtain financial benefit from Microsoft or any another person", - writes the publication.
