The disability will have to be confirmed anew - Deputy Venislavskyi

"It is doubtful whether all were disabled as a result of real injuries or illnesses"

Military conscripts in Ukraine who received disability of II and III groups since the beginning of the large-scale war will have to undergo a re-examination to confirm their health status. But exceptions are also possible. Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, People's Deputy Fedir Venislavskyi told about this.

"We decided that all citizens who first received a disability of (preliminary) II and III groups since the beginning of a large-scale war, or were recognized as limited fit (aged 18 to 60) for military service, should undergo a review, respectively, at the MSEK or VLK . They must confirm their suitability or unfitness for military service." he said.

At the same time, according to the people's deputy, comments were also made that there may be cases when a person has a disability since childhood.

"And she definitely does not need to be checked again if, for example, she is deaf from birth. But we will already prescribe all these details at the stage of approval of the amendments." — stated Venislavskyi.

The committee member, in particular, noted that after February 24, 2022, the number of people with disabilities of the II and III groups increased greatly.

"And there is doubt as to whether all of them acquired this disability as a result of actual injuries or illnesses." - explained the People's Deputy.

What is it about?

In the wording of the draft law on changes in mobilization, which was voted as a basis, the final and transitional provisions establish norms regarding the review of citizens with limited fitness, as well as a new check on the unfitness for military service of people who received a disability of II and III groups after February 24, 2022 (except those who received them as a result of participation in the war).

We would like to add that persons recognized as disabled are not subject to conscription and have a deferment from mobilization. But there are some nuances here, and disability in itself is not a reason for exemption from military registration.
