On the night of March 2, the Russian invaders launched 8 Shahed type attack drones from the Black Sea over Odesa and the region. Of them, 7 were shot down by air defense forces and means, but 1 drone hit a 9-story building in Odessa during maneuvers among residential areas. Part of the entrance to 18 apartments was destroyed. As of now, a search and rescue operation is underway, according to preliminary data, there may be people under the rubble.
According to press services Head Office of the State Emergency Service in Odesa Oblast, there are people under the rubble. As of 07:00, 7 injured persons have been rescued, and the bodies of 2 dead have been found. Work is being carried out to analyze the rubble and search for people. Psychologists work on site. Dog experts are involved in the search. The heating point is deployed.
20 units of equipment and 91 rescuers have been involved from the State Emergency Service, the work is carried out together with cooperation services.
The Odesa City Hall added, which also damaged utility networks and the boiler room, and nearby houses were disconnected from heating. According to Oleh Kiper, the head of Odesa OVA, one entrance was completely destroyed.

He noted that two dead and eight injured, including a child, are now known.
"We need more air defense from our partners. It is necessary to strengthen the Ukrainian air shield to add protection to our people from Russian terror. More air defense systems, more missiles for air defense are what save lives," — wrote the president.
