When asked if he would withdraw from the election if Trump did, Biden said: "No, not now."
As noted by the newspaper, such statements of the president appeared at a time when polls show that most Democrats would prefer someone other than Biden, who turned 81 last month, to represent the party in next year's elections. A CNN poll in August found that 67 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents would like another nominee, and 70 percent cited age, health, mental competence or ability to handle the job as their top concerns about Biden's work.
