Windows 11 operating system will be the first PC platform with centralized support for artificial intelligence

Microsoft continues to actively introduce artificial intelligence technologies into its products. Previously, a ChatGPT-based assistant was added to the Bing search engine. Now a similar assistant will be added to the Windows 11 operating system.

As Microsoft announced, with the premiere of Windows Copilot, the Windows 11 operating system will become the first platform for PCs with centralized support for artificial intelligence. The Microsoft Copilot button is located in the central part of the taskbar, when called, a side dialog box will open. According to the company, together with Bing's AI bot and proprietary and third-party plugins, users will be able to bring their ideas to life by using AI to complete complex projects without the distraction of switching between multiple applications.

The assistant will be able to answer simple and complex questions, simplifying interaction with various information and will be available for calling when working in any applications, regardless of what the user is doing - looking for inspiration, making plans, communicating or creating. For example, if you need to plan a trip with your family, Microsoft Copilot will help you choose tickets and accommodation. Also, the assistant will be able to change system settings and perform other operations with the OS and applications upon request. In Windows Copilot, you can connect modules for Bing Chat to work with external applications.

A preview of Windows Copilot for Windows 11 will be available in June. There is a high probability that the new solution will become publicly available already in the autumn update, although the company has not yet named the exact release dates.

Microsoft intends to maintain a close relationship with the developers of ChatGPT. It is known that OpenAI and Microsoft have agreed on the use in the future of the plug-in format common to ChatGPT and Bing (which Bing does not yet have), including those created by third-party developers. In addition, Microsoft is working on plugins for Microsoft 365 Copilot. The company is expected to unveil more than 50 plugins at its Build developer conference, including Atlassian, Adobe, ServiceNow, Thomson Reuters, with "thousands more to come."
