The Cabinet of Ministers wants to save money on hospital payments to Ukrainians - they will cut up to 50%

The size of hospital beds will change.

The Ministry of Social Policy has submitted a bill for public discussion, which proposes to reduce the amount of sick leave - up to 50%-80%, depending on seniority.

The main innovations are:

1. Sick leave will be electronic only, with mandatory assignment of a registration number. The Social Insurance Fund will check the validity of issuing letters of temporary disability.

In case of discovery of "wrong" sick leave, the Fund will appeal to the management of hospitals and the Ministry of Health. And if payments have already been made for such a sick leave, the doctor who issued it will be forced to compensate the expenses.

2. Sick leave will not be issued at all during downtime of the enterprise and for "unfounded" discharges. That is, if the company does not work during the quarantine, the employee will not receive anything at all. Formally, sick leave is of no use to him, because he is at home anyway. But, taking into account that salaries are also cut during downtime, the question arises - what is being treated for? There are even more questions about refusals due to the "unreasonableness" of the hospital: how can a person prove that he was really sick and get paid. The new draft does not provide for an appeal procedure.

3. The size of hospital beds will change. Now all Ukrainians with more than 8 years of work experience receive 100% of their salary in case of temporary disability. In the new project, it is proposed to pay 50% of the salary to those who have up to 5 years of experience, 60% to people with 5-10 years of experience, 70% to 10-15 years, 80% to 15-20 years. Only those who have worked for more than 100 years will receive 20% of their salary.

"That is, after this reform, those who have, say, 9 years of experience, will receive sick pay of only 60% of their salary instead of the current 100%," says the head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners, Mikhail Volynets.

4. At the same time, funeral payments will be doubled - from one to two subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons.

5. Most of the illness will be covered by employers. If now the company finances the first five days of sick leave of its employees, then in the new project this period is increased to 10 days. Now these terms are halved - 5 days. Taking into account that the average sick leave is issued for 7-10 days, it turns out that it will be entirely on the employer company, which, of course, the business will not like.
