The reverse side of the coronavirus: medicines are being stolen from Odessa hospitals

Against the background of a general apocalypse, people begin to manifest their animal instincts.

Over the past few weeks, a series of anti-records in the number of people infected with the coronavirus has been set in Ukraine. Hospitals are overcrowded, and it is not known how officials, doctors, and Ukrainians themselves will cope with the new wave of the disease. Odessa is in the top in terms of anti-records, so our region deserves special attention.

However, against the background of a general apocalypse, people begin to manifest their animal instincts - in order to get to the hospital for treatment, people imitate severe ailments, and doctors, if they are not fired, begin to "sin."

THEFT OF MEDICINES AND MONEY
Natalya, the heroine of our article, faced another problem - theft. We are talking about one of the city hospitals of Odessa, in the intensive care unit of which her mother is. The girl says that at the request of the doctors, she buys the necessary products and medicine, only they began to disappear with noticeable frequency...

"My mother is in intensive care in one of the city's hospitals, every time I bring her food and medicine when necessary. One of these lists included "Albumin". Together with the other medicines, I put it in a bag and left it on the bedside table near my mother. I previously tore off the price tag from the packaging, a noticeable mark remained. When I returned a few hours later, I found that "Albumin" was not there. The nurse said that my mother did not inject it, and a little later I saw the package with the drug in another patient. And such cases are not only mine. The question is: is this an attempt by doctors to help all those in need, or is it a banal theft of the fund of a medical facility?!", the woman is puzzled.

A similar story happened with Albert, who contracted the coronavirus. His medicine was handed over to his neighbor in the ward almost openly - they say, it's still one doctor, no one will notice.

Medical workers simply divided the package in half - from tablets to ampoules.

"Even toilet paper - one roll "moved" to another patient," said Albert. - I'm not greedy, I'll share if you ask, although the treatment is by no means cheap, and I'm not a charity fund - but I see how doctors are "thanked" for the economy later! Maybe I shouldn't give them money, I'll just buy things and medicine for my parents?!"

DELAYS ON PAYMENTS
Meanwhile, the Cabinet of Ministers increased additional payments to military personnel and medics involved in the fight against COVID-19. Surcharges will double - this decision was taken by the government at a meeting on October 13.

However, some medical workers did not immediately see the previous surcharges. Many of them were surprised by the amount of written off taxes. For example, as Yulia, a doctor at one of the private clinics in the Odesa region, told the "ElitExpert" agency:

"They added a bonus, only deducted money for the army, the pension fund, where else... And it turned out - attention - almost less than usual! We save people, we stay awake at night, we are in the risk zone, so that you can once again do your tricks there? People are dying, better buy ventilation systems and equip hospitals," says the girl.

IS ODESSA READY?
In turn, the head of the Ministry of Health, Maksym Stepanov, said that the maximum number of coronavirus beds that the country's medical system can provide is 52 thousand. As of today, 34 beds have been put into operation. Another 154 thousand beds are ready to receive patients. And the system will be able to enter more than 6,5 thousand additional places if necessary.

In this regard, infectious disease specialist Olga Golubovskaya appealed to Ukrainians who, despite already more than 5 deaths from Covid-19, do not believe in the existence of the coronavirus disease. She spoke about the difficult situation in Ukrainian hospitals against the background of the epidemic and urged people to use masks in public places.

— To all the "covid-skeptics", whose number, however, has decreased somewhat, I want to say the following — you will have a good life. You don't see what patients who are looking for a bed with oxygen experience. You don't see how resuscitators work, dragging cylinders with oxygen into the department, where its pressure drops, and that is, all serious patients find themselves on the verge of death. You don't see how severely exhausted patients take off their oxygen masks in order to die, and they do it quietly, at night, so that no one sees... How relatively young people who are already recovering from thrombosis die... It's hard when you're in the same family Several people are dying, and not always the most elderly... You don't see the pace of work of exhausted personnel who don't have a minute of rest either day or night... And this happened in many countries, both developed and not very developed, - Golubovskaya reported on her Facebook page.
