It is impossible to launch the production of a coronavirus vaccine in Ukraine. This was stated by a member of the National Academy of Sciences, Sergey Komissarenko, on the air of "Ukraine 24".
- We can create a vaccine like, for example, a cook in the kitchen prepares a cake. But then this cake must be made in the amount of 80 million of the same samples, subject to all conditions of quality control. So is the vaccine. Is our pharmaceutical industry ready to release a vaccine? I have big doubts. We don't have a genomic center, we don't have the right to work with viruses, we don't have reference laboratories of the third level of biosafety, we don't have a biotechnological center that would deal with the scaling up of things produced in a laboratory for mass production. We can only create, not produce, Komisarenko assured.
It should be noted that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said that Ukraine could produce a vaccine in the summer.
