The operational headquarters of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine approved the plan to vaccinate the population against the coronavirus disease.

The operational headquarters of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine approved the plan to vaccinate the population against the coronavirus disease. The document, developed together with WHO and UNICEF experts, may be changed depending on the epidemiological situation in the country.

This is stated in the message of the Public Health Center of Ukraine (CPH).

"Will this document be flexible, will it be updated depending on the situation with Covid-19? updated data on vaccines, the availability of the vaccine itself against the disease, and the success of its implementation directly depends on partnership and close cooperation with regional health care institutions, local authorities, doctors and the public," he said. at. According to him, the plan provides for the immunization of at least 50% of the population of Ukraine (about 20 million people) against the coronavirus disease during 2021-2022.

"Vaccination against Covid-19 in Ukraine will be voluntary for all population groups and professional risk groups. Its implementation will not interfere with the implementation of routine vaccination in accordance with the Vaccination Calendar in order to prevent a decrease in the level of vaccination against other diseases," added the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The plan will be updated every two weeks so that it corresponds to the real situation. The target, target groups, logistic routes, training of medics, communication and deployment of mobile teams are the basic part of the document. It can be changed only if radically new information is received. Stages of vaccine development, qualification and registration procedures, vaccine delivery — this part will be updated constantly.

"We are ready to receive the vaccine already in the first quarter of 2021. The first priority will be the vaccination of doctors, especially those who work in hospitals where they provide treatment for Covid-19. Vaccination for Ukrainians from the uncontrolled territory of the country will also be available — the corresponding procedure will be approved by a separate plan," said Kuzyn. At the moment, the plan provides for 4 stages of population vaccination:

  1. January-April 2021 — people with a high risk of infection and development of Covid-19 and those who perform critical functions in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic;
  2. April-June 2021 — people with an extremely high risk of infection and development of Covid-19 and those who provide medical services;
  3. June-September 2021 — people with a high risk of infection and development of Covid-19 and those who perform functions to maintain the security and vitality of the state;
