The level of gold and foreign reserves managed to increase to a record thanks to the IMF tranche of 2,7 billion dollars.
After receiving this tranche, the international reserves of the National Bank grew to 31,5 billion dollars — this is the maximum in nine years. This was announced on Tuesday, August 31, by the head of the NBU Council, Bohdan Danylyshyn.
"This made it possible to achieve 100% compliance of the NBU's international reserves with the minimum required level according to the IMF's composite criteria," he noted.
We note that the volume of reserves was larger than today, on May 1, 2012 — 31,661 billion dollars.
We note that the funds received from the IMF have not yet been distributed, but the authorities promise to use some of them for social payments.
