Ukraine plans to receive a $300 million loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus epidemic.

This was written by the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada (VR) Vasyl Mokan on his Facebook page on Monday, November 23.

Thus, the government approved the draft order of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi on the delegation of Ukraine to participate in negotiations with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. dollars for the project Modernization of the system of social support of the population of Ukraine," explained Mokan.

This money, as the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine added, will provide an opportunity for the government to attract additional funds to improve the results of the social assistance system and social services in Ukraine.

According to Mokan, for this it is planned:

  • introduction of emergency cash transfers for individuals and households who lost their jobs or sources of income due to the Covid-19 pandemic;
  • support of poor households with the help of the Program of state social assistance to low-income families existing in the country;
  • strengthening of social protection systems and institutions to improve response in the future.

Note that at the moment Ukraine cannot receive a new tranche from the IMF.
