A man who arrived at Odesa Airport on a flight from Dubai (UAE) tried to smuggle more than 10 kilograms of gold and silver jewelry into Ukraine in a suitcase, the State Border Service reported.
The tourist chose the green corridor to pass the control in order to avoid customs payments for the transportation of valuable goods. But the ruse did not succeed: border guards together with customs officers discovered that his suitcases were stuffed with jewelry.
The suitcases contained rings, earrings, bracelets, pendants, etc. All products are made of gold and silver with inserts of stones of various types and sizes. The total weight of 90 sets of jewelry exceeded 10 kg.
The smuggler said that he brought all the jewelry from India.
Their total value, according to the most modest estimates, exceeds 10 thousand dollars.
