Three German political parties concluded an agreement on a new government. According to his terms, the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Olaf Scholz, will become the new chancellor of Germany.
It is he who will replace Angela Merkel as the Federal Chancellor of Germany.
"The traffic light coalition has been created. Three parties - "social democrats", "green" and "free democrats" approved a coalition agreement and, accordingly, agreed on the creation of a coalition government. Now we will put this agreement to a vote in our parties and we will do our best to ensure that our parties approve it in the next ten days," announced Olaf Scholz at a press conference in Berlin.
This coalition is called a "traffic light" after the colors of the symbols of the three parties.
In the September elections to the Bundestag, Scholz's Social Democrats took first place, and in total these three parties gained a clear majority.
Let's note that Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Union party, which headed the German government for 16 years, lost the elections and is now in the opposition.
