The Coalition for a Safer Web has sued Apple to remove the Telegram messenger from the App Store due to the lack of strict moderation of "extremist information" after the attack on the Capitol.
The Washington Post writes about it.
It is reported that the lawsuit is a pressure tactic to force Apple to act against Telegram in a similar way as it did with Parler. As a reminder, the client of this social network, which was used by Trump's supporters, was removed from the App Store and Google Play stores, and the Amazon company refused to provide its servers. Thus Parler was simply destroyed.
The complaint states that Telegram hosts racist, neo-Nazi and other materials of a hostile nature. Thus, the content of the messenger violates the terms of use of the Apple application store. The lawsuit is also planned to be filed against Google.
Apparently, this is a continuation of a large-scale campaign against Internet platforms where Trump supporters can freely interact with each other.
