Today, January 18, the Cabinet of Ministers at an extraordinary meeting approved the establishment of the maximum gas price for the population at the level of UAH 6,99 per cubic meter.
"This price will be valid until the end of the heating season or until the end of the quarantine. Gas suppliers will not be able to raise the price above UAH 6,99 per cubic meter. This decision will reduce the price of gas for Ukrainians by an average of 30%," Shmyhal said.
According to him, the price set by the government is 1,5 hryvnias per cubic meter lower than it was in 2018-2019.
"In the winter months of those years, payments averaged 2,5-3 thousand hryvnias. Or 75% of the then minimum wage. The price set by us (6,99 UAH / cubic meter) means that with the same consumption, the average payment will be approximately 500 UAH less. And it will be approximately 40% of the minimum wage," Prime Minister Shmyhal said.
Let us remind you that the authorities made a decision to review gas tariffs after the mass rallies that swept across the country. However, many are not satisfied with the price list approved by the Cabinet of Ministers today, as it is still higher than the price of gas in December.
