The former editor of the Belarusian opposition channel Nexta, Roman Protasevich, was detained at the Minsk airport. This is reported by the Telegram channel Nexta Live.

A Ryanair plane flying from Athens to Vilnius made an emergency landing at the National Airport of Minsk.

The plane suddenly sounded a distress signal and changed course. The reason for the emergency landing was a mining signal.

Before taking off, he reported that he had noticed someone following him.

Protasevich faces the death penalty in Belarus. Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Belarus demanded that the editors of the Nexta Telegram channels be recognized as extremists, and that Protasevich and the channel's creator, Stepan Putilo, be extradited to Belarus from Poland. A case has been filed against them for organizing mass riots and inciting social enmity.
