Today, February 2, the Moscow City Court will hold a hearing on the case of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Today, February 2, the Moscow City Court will hold a hearing on the case of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Allies of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny called on supporters of the politician to gather near the court, where it is planned to consider the request of the Russian Federal Service for the Execution of Sentences (FSIN) to change Navalny's conditional term to a real one. The team of the Anti-corruption Foundation announced this on social networks.

"If we want to achieve something, we will achieve it. Tuesday 10 hours. Moskovskiy gorodskoj sud", says the FBK message.

"Since August 20, Alexei Navalny has experienced: 18 days of coma; almost 5 months of recovery; 2 weeks in pre-trial detention center. And tomorrow the court may send Alexey behind bars for several years. Come, we need your support," added the fund's Telegram channel.

Navalny was tried in the so-called "Yves Roche Vostok" case. The verdict on him was handed down six years ago - in December 2014.

The younger brother of the opposition leader, Oleg Navalny, worked in a managerial position at the Russian Post Office. The court's decision states that he convinced the management of the Russian branch of Yves Rocher to terminate the contract for the supply of products with the Russian Post and conclude with LLC "Glavnoe podpisnoe agentstvo". Later it turned out that at inflated prices. The damage was estimated at 26 million rubles - that much "Yves Rocher" overpaid. According to the verdict, Alexey Navalny was the general manager of this scam.

As a result, Oleg Navalny received 3,5 years in prison, served the entire term and was released. Alexei Navalny was sentenced to the same term conditionally with a probationary period of 5 years. Later, this deadline was extended by one hour.

Alexey Navalny was required to register with the regulatory authorities twice a month. However, according to Russian jailers, he did not do this six times in 2020. All passes were due to the state of emergency on August 20, which the opposition interprets as "Novichok" poisoning.

Due to non-fulfillment of the conditions of the conditional term, it may become real today. Alexey Navalny spent eight months under house arrest pending the verdict in the Yves Rocher Vostok case. If the oppositionist is sent to prison, he will remain in prison for 2,7 years - approximately until the end of the summer of 2023.
