Merkel can be replaced by a social democrat: parliamentary elections have ended in Germany

The election results are unexpected.

For the first time in the 16 years of Chancellor Angela Merkel's rule, the Bundestag can be headed by a social democrat.

In Germany, the counting of election results in all districts has been completed. Voting results are posted on the website of the Federal Election Commission of Germany.

According to the voting results, the Social Democratic Party of Germany is in the lead with 25,7%. Her candidate for chancellorship is Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Finance, Olaf Scholz.

In second place, with a small margin - 24,1%, the political power of Angela Merkel - the block of the Christian Democratic and Christian Social Unions.

"Greens" became the third in the list. 14,8% of voters voted for them.

As early as tomorrow, on Tuesday, negotiations on the new composition of the government can begin.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine noted that the Ukrainian authorities systematically worked with all the heads of political forces before the German elections.

"The President spoke with the leader of the Christian Democrats, Armin Lashet. I spoke with the leader of the Social Democrats, Olaf Scholz, when I was in Berlin. We worked with each of the political forces that will now conduct coalition negotiations and proved to them Ukraine's position on key issues," explained Dmitry Kuleba.

He assured that the results of the elections in Germany are favorable for Ukraine.
