The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed the decree "On the Protection of Sovereignty and the Constitutional System". This is reported on the official website of the head of Belarus.
The document stipulates that in the event of the death of the head of state as a result of an attempt, an act of terrorism, external aggression, or other violent actions, all state bodies and their officials act in accordance with the decisions of the Security Council, whose meetings are chaired by the prime minister.
At the same time, a state of emergency or martial law is immediately introduced on the territory of the country, and the Security Council defines a list of measures to ensure it.
"Decisions of the Security Council are binding for all and subject to unconditional implementation. The main question will be the question of holding elections. The Security Council with the participation of the governors will decide on their implementation," the document reads.
