About such a decision of the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association v Facebook reported the head of the UAF, Andrey Pavelko.
"Aleksandr Petrakov, the 2019 World Champion with the u-20 team, will prepare the national team for further performances in the qualification for the 2022 World Cup in the status of acting head coach.
Such a decision was taken by the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association. Aleksandr Vasilyevich is a world-renowned specialist, has a high reputation among our football community and has the necessary knowledge and experience to lead the country's main team at this stage. Therefore, he deservedly received the unanimous support of the members of the Executive Committee," Pavelko wrote.
The story of the selection of the head coach of the Ukrainian national team began at the beginning of August.
On July 31, Andrey Shevchenko announced on social networks that he was saying goodbye to the national team. A few days later, information about the end of the contract with Shevchenko was confirmed by the UAF. According to UP sources, after Euro-2020, Shevchenko had a meeting with the head of the UAF Andrey Pavelko. However, the new financial conditions of the coaching staff did not satisfy the management of UAF. According to available information, Shevchenko asked for a salary of 3 million euros per hour for his coaching staff.
Let us remind you that after the departure of Shevchenko, the main candidate for this position was Sergei Rebrov, but he was prevented from signing a contract with "Al-Ain" in the summer with an annual salary of 4,5 million euros per hour.
We note that already in early September, the Ukrainian national team must play two matches of the World Cup 2022 selection against the teams of Kazakhstan and France.
