Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed a group whose members organized the sale of large sums of fake euros in the Rivne region, and were also involved in the forgery of state documents. This was reported in the SBU press center.
According to the preliminary data of the investigation, dealers in the territory of Rivne and Volyn regions were engaged in the sale of ready-made fake banknotes for 50% of the nominal value of the euro. They looked for clients through personal connections, and sold in large batches, at least 10 thousand euros in "single hands". At the same time, high-quality counterfeits were not identified even by a device for checking money.
During nine searches conducted at the place of residence and in the cars of the persons involved in the case, operatives found and seized: blank passport forms of citizens of Ukraine; permits for the use of labor by foreigners and stateless persons on the territory of Ukraine; stamps and stamps issued by the state with signs of forgery; almost 7 kg of raw amber and a large amount of cash.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 3 of Article 199 (Production, storage, acquisition, transportation, shipment, import into Ukraine for the purpose of sale or sale of counterfeit money, state securities or state lottery tickets) and Part 2 Article 359 (Illegal acquisition, sale or use of special technical means of obtaining information). Investigators have already informed two persons involved in the case of suspicion. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention and round-the-clock house arrest.
The investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers establish the sources of origin of counterfeit currency and the persons involved in its manufacture and sale.
