Introducing the state of emergency: in Odessa, they told what to expect

The state of emergency is introduced for at least 30 days and may be extended.

Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, Governor Sergey Hrynevetskyi, Head of the Regional Council Hryhory Dydenko and the leadership of the regional departments of the SBU, the National Police, the State Security Service, and the Teroborony held a joint briefing on the introduction of the state of emergency in Ukraine.

The head of the OGA, Sergey Hrynevetskyi, called on the population not to panic, and noted that the state of emergency regime is fundamentally different from the military regime. It is necessary in order to preemptively react to possible changes in order to prevent the situation from becoming complicated.

The state of emergency is introduced for at least 30 days and may be extended. According to Hrynevetskyi, practically nothing will change for ordinary citizens - except that there will be more checks on the streets and special enterprises.

At the same time, the introduction of martial law and the issue of mobilization are not discussed now.

In turn, according to the head of the National Police in the Odesa Region, Mykola Semenyshin, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been put on enhanced duty.

"In fact, nothing will change for ordinary citizens, unless the number of checks on the roads will increase, there will be more control on the streets, near state, special and infrastructure facilities," Seminyshin said.

As noted by the head of the Regional State Administration, the main task now is to ensure the stable operation of the region's enterprises, primarily critical infrastructure facilities.

Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov emphasized that the city is working as usual.

"I appeal to all residents of Odessa to remain calm. Coordination of our actions with all law enforcement agencies allows us to keep the situation under control. Transport, schools, kindergartens are working, we do not plan to close or restrict access to them in any way," Gennady Trukhanov said.
