On October 14, 98-year-old Nikolay Moskovoi, one of the last participants in the liberation of Odessa from the fascist invaders, passed away.
Mykola Ivanovich is a veteran of military service, reserve colonel of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
At the front, he was a sapper, a scout and a member of assault groups. He liberated Ukraine, Moldova, Bulgaria, Romania, Austria, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia, for which he was awarded orders and medals.
The war for him lasted until 1948. For three years, he was still engaged in demining the territories where the fighting was going on.
The day of the liberation of Odessa, April 10, 1944, the veteran recalled as follows:
"We walked, even tractors and tanks could not pass everywhere. And ordinary civilians from the surrounding settlements helped us - soldiers: they carried things, military weapons, supplies. Thanks to our unity and self-sacrifice, we were able to defeat the enemy and win this Great Victory!".
Let's note that Nikolay Ivanovich was one of the four liberators of Odessa who have survived to this day.
