Igor Kuzynyn, the Deputy Minister of Health - Chief Medical Officer of Ukraine, announced that the Ministry of Health intends to extend the school holidays due to the complex epidemic situation due to COVID-19.
"We are now discussing the extension of this term for three or four weeks," he said.
As the sanatorium said, 607 children are now in hospital treatment due to the coronavirus, which is already 21% of the number of beds for children with COVID-19.
"Recently, children are more actively involved in the epidemic process, and a large number of classes are closed due to the illness of one child or teacher. The entire class is considered contact, and it is closed for a "conditional" quarantine," Kuzyn explained.
"At the expense of such a decision, they are trying to reduce the burden on the healthcare system in those areas where there is an overburden on hospitals. Such a solution can be effective in countering the pandemic." - added the chief sanatorium.
