On Saturday, August 14, the 12th Odessa International Film Festival began. The solemn opening ceremony was traditionally held in the Opera House, and invited stars and local beau monde from officials and deputies paraded along the red carpet.
Among the guests, in particular, Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov, famous German producer Marte Grunert and actor Daniel Brühl.
The hosts of the opening ceremony were Yanina Sokolova and Oleg Panyuta.
This film festival is timed to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence with a focus on national cinema. The program includes more than 50 films.
This year, the organizers refused the opening film, and the closing of the 12th OMCF will be held outdoors for the first time - on the Potemkin Stairs. The closing film will be Charlie Chaplin's film "The Kid".
