Avenue of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred should be returned to its previous name - Marshal Zhukov. This was announced by the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, on September 16, during a session of the city council.
This issue will be submitted to public hearings in December of this year. In parallel, the issues of the return of the previously named and second streets will be considered — in particular, ul. Englishmen, formerly of the 25th Chapaev Division.
"For us, this is a question of preserving historical memory, paying attention to the heroic past of our Hero City. And we will seek justice," Trukhanov said.
Let us remind you that in May 2016, ex-governor Saakashvili signed an order on the renaming of a number of toponymic objects, including one in Odessa. This list, in particular, included Marshala Zhukov Avenue and 25th Chapaevskaya Division Street.
