In the near future, the government will consider the issue of creating a transplant coordination center in Ukraine. This initiative was put forward by the Ministry of Health during the meeting of the medical council on September 15.
In addition, the meeting participants discussed the "road map" of the development of the transplantation system in Ukraine, as well as the issue of increasing the number of national bone marrow donors in Ukraine.
Now the Ministry of Health is taking concrete steps to develop transplantation of not only organs, but also bone marrow. The Kyiv Regional Oncological Dispensary, the Kyiv City Center for Bone Marrow Transplantation, and the Institute of Blood Pathology and Transfusion Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine actively joined this process. By the end of the year, participants of the pilot project will perform 84 autologous bone marrow transplants, as well as 4 allogeneic ones. In 2021, it is planned to carry out 250-300 such operations.
The Ministry of Health is also negotiating the introduction of training programs for Ukrainian specialists abroad, and the possibility of introducing a package of follow-up of patients after transplantation is being discussed with the National Health Service.
