Law enforcement officers exposed an interregional group that was engaged in the sale of babies under the guise of a surrogate motherhood program. About this on Tuesday, July 27, сообщает press service of the SBU.
The cost of a baby with a full package of fake official documents was 60 thousand dollars.
It is noted that the organized group included residents of Kyiv and Kharkiv regions, including the heads of one of the capital's centers of reproductive medicine.
Criminals helped foreigners arrange fictitious marriages with citizens of Ukraine. Subsequently, "their" doctors officially certified the "infertility" of the wife, which is the basis for the official use of assisted reproductive technologies.
Then they found a candidate for surrogate motherhood. As soon as a woman gave birth to a child, the fictitious marriage was dissolved, and foreigners took the child abroad.
The SBU also documented the fact that the center's medical workers were negligent in their duties, which led to the death of newborns.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized a number of pieces of evidence. The perpetrators were informed of the suspicion.
