The Security Service of Ukraine disclosed the commission of a terrorist act, namely the shelling of LLC "Information agency "112-kanal" in July 2019. This was reported in the SBU press center.
The pre-trial investigation established that the shelling of the TV channel building was organized by former deputy Semen Semenchenko. All this happened during the election campaign to the Verkhovna Rada. This act of terrorism was used by representatives of the aggressor state in a hybrid war against our country. In order to commit the crime, the person involved in the case involved two members of an armed formation subordinate to him.
In June 2019, Semenchenko, together with an accomplice, conducted reconnaissance of the area near the TV channel building. They chose the optimal way to commit a terrorist attack, in particular, the ways of leaving the scene of the crime and the presence of video surveillance cameras.
Also, Semenchenko organized the transfer of money for the purchase of transport and other means necessary for the commission of the crime.
According to the original plan of the organizer, the perpetrators of the terrorist attack were to buy a car, put a large amount of explosives in it, then park the car in front of the TV channel building and detonate it at a certain time.
However, in order to hide the perpetrators and the organizer, it was decided to commit a terrorist act by shelling the TV channel building with an anti-tank grenade launcher.
During the searches of the places of residence of the suspects in the case in the capital and the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers seized vehicles and means of committing illegal actions, which the perpetrators used in the course of committing the crime.
The investigators informed them about suspicion under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Terrorist Act). The question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved.
