The negotiations lasted more than 10 hours in Moscow.

As a result of long-term negotiations in Moscow, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed on a ceasefire from 11:00 a.m. (Kyiv time, editor's note) on October 10 in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The parties agreed on four points:

  • ceasefire from 12:00 on October 10, 2020 for humanitarian purposes for the exchange of prisoners of war and other detained persons and the bodies of the dead with the mediation and in accordance with the criteria of the International Red Cross;
  • specific parameters of the ceasefire regime will be agreed upon additionally;
  • Azerbaijan and Armenia, with the mediation of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, are starting substantive negotiations based on the basic principles of settlement with the aim of achieving a peaceful settlement as soon as possible;
  • The parties confirm the unchanged format of the negotiation process.

Negotiations between the heads of foreign affairs of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation began on Friday in Moscow and ended on Saturday night, they lasted more than 10 hours/

Let us remind you that on September 27, large-scale fighting began between Armenia and Azerbaijan for Nagorno-Karabakh, over which there has been a territorial dispute for more than 30 years.

Opponents accuse each other of escalation. On September 30, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, declared that his country would end hostilities if Armenia "renounces the policy of occupation" and withdraws its troops from Nagorno-Karabakh.

On October 4, he demanded that Armenia establish a schedule for the withdrawal of troops from NK and adjacent territories.

In turn, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that a truce in Nagorno-Karabakh is possible only if Turkey withdraws from the South Caucasus. On October 6, he declared that Yerevan is ready for mirror concessions with Baku.
