The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed the law "On Amendments to Article 22 of the Law of Ukraine "On Mandatory State Social Insurance" regarding social protection in case of temporary disability" No. 1380-IX, which was adopted by the parliament on April 13. This was reported in the Office of the President.
The document gives back to people the right to receive material assistance from the Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine during the period of temporary incapacity due to a disease or injury not related to an accident at work (so-called sick leave).
Due to a legislative conflict, these payments were canceled after amendments were made to the Law of Ukraine "On Mandatory State Social Insurance", which will come into effect on June 30, 2021. This could lead to the fact that 2,5 million people would not be able to get sick leave. The law signed by the president corrects the conflict and restores the right to receive this financial aid.
The document enters into force on the day of the implementation of the Law of Ukraine "On Rehabilitation in the Healthcare Sector" - June 30, 2021.
