The simplified procedure of changing the mobile operator with saving the phone number will work from December 1. This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
The service for porting subscriber numbers in Ukraine began to be provided on May 1, 2019. In almost two years, the operators received about 200 official applied, but 40% of applicants were refused. Bureaucracy got in the way. It is also important that more than 7 million users leave mobile operators every year, some of whom could potentially use this service.
The new procedure will greatly facilitate the life of a subscriber who wants to keep his phone number but change mobile operator:
— the number will be transferred promptly: a maximum of 1 day, not 3-4;
— the subscriber must contact one - the new operator, and not two, as it was before; the contract with the former company will be terminated automatically;
— users without a contract will now be able to leave their number when changing operators in a simplified manner – registration with the previous operator is not required.
It is expected that the new order will lead to increased competition between mobile operators and will stimulate the improvement of the quality of services that Ukrainians receive.
