Farmers of the Kherson region are forced to destroy unsold overripe watermelons due to a record harvest and the subsequent oversaturation of the market.
In particular, already in the south of the country, the wholesale price of watermelons has dropped to 50 kopecks per kilogram, which is at least 2 times lower than the cost price.
But even at such an exceptionally low price, farmers cannot sell their goods. Watermelons overripe and have to be destroyed.
Farmers say that they have not seen such a harvest of watermelons in the last twenty years.
