After the expiration of strict quarantine restrictions on January 24, adaptive quarantine will be in effect in Ukraine, and the lockdown will not be extended.
Health Minister Maksym Stepanov announced this on the air of one of the TV channels.
Starting from January 25, there will be a quarantine with other restrictions, with the second regime of these restrictions. In particular, this concerns our strategy: we want to further return to adaptive quarantine. Then, depending on the epidemiological situation, one or another level of restrictions is determined," the head of the Ministry of Health noted.
Stepanov also assured that the lockdown will not be stopped early and it will definitely last until January 24, but not longer.
"In such a regime, as it (quarantine - ed.) operates until the 24th, there is no such thing (about extension - ed.). This should be logical and comply with the laws of epidemiology," the minister emphasized.
We note that Stepanov still had thoughts about extending the quarantine. Just yesterday, January 12, the minister insisted on extending the quarantine.
"First, we had January holidays, which were accompanied by mass celebrations: with a large number of people in the premises, people went to visit their relatives. This will potentially greatly affect the growth of the number of patients," Stepanov said.
The minister also emphasized that a seasonal increase in infected people is expected, which is observed annually in January. Yesterday, Stepanov said that the extension of quarantine is necessary to avoid an excessive burden on healthcare.
