Despite the sharp outbreak of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health will not insist on strict quarantine

Earlier, Stepanov referred to the European experience in the fight against the coronavirus.

Despite the sharp increase in the number of patients per day, the Ministry of Health does not intend to initiate a return to strict quarantine. The authorities of Ukraine will not re-introduce a general full quarantine in the country, which includes a complete stoppage of transport, closing of markets and shops. This was announced by Health Minister Maksym Stepanov at a briefing on Thursday, October 8.

He noted that a full quarantine is introduced to break the chain of disease transmission and called the basic function of the state to provide medical care.

"I understand very well that we cannot now go the way that some European countries have gone. The path taken by Israel, which introduced a complete lockdown for 14 days," Stepanov said.

As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers introduced a strict quarantine for three months from March 18 - during the period when single cases of coronavirus disease were recorded in some regions in Ukraine.

"Approximately 19 have been determined for patients with COVID-37. beds, of which 30 thousand they are already accepting patients, the rest are in reserve. 16,745 thousand patients stay in hospitals with either a confirmed diagnosis or a suspected diagnosis. If such rapid growth continues, we may have problems. With the available number of patients, the situation is tense, but not critical," he said during the briefing.

It should be noted that on October 8, another anti-record was set in Ukraine - both in terms of the increase in new cases of the disease (5 thousand 397 cases) and in terms of mortality - 93 people.
