Zelensky and Johnson signed a historic agreement

About political cooperation, free trade and strategic partnership

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Prime Minister of Great Britain Boris Johnson signed the Agreement on Political Cooperation, Free Trade and Strategic Partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in London. This was reported in the press service of the head of state.

Zelensky noted the exceptional importance of the Agreement as a new basis for bilateral relations, in particular in the context of Great Britain's exit from the European Union.

"Today is a historic day for Ukraine and Great Britain: we are starting a new stage of strategic partnership between our countries," the president said.

The document establishes strategic partnership relations and establishes the main directions of cooperation between the two states.

Given the absence of a basic agreement between Ukraine and Great Britain on friendship, cooperation and partnership, the consolidation of general political principles of bilateral cooperation and partnership in the new Agreement has important strategic and practical significance.

The document envisages holding annual meetings of the Strategic Partnership Dialogue at a high official or higher governmental level on all aspects of bilateral cooperation. It is also envisaged to hold meetings of the Trade Committee, which will consist of representatives of the parties.
