The Ministry of Justice named the most popular and rare names that Ukrainians named their newborns in the first half of 2021.
Choosing a child's name is the right of parents. Someone in this question is chasing exoticism, someone follows national traditions, but the majority still gives preference to names familiar to our region.
So, in the first half of the year, the most popular names were:
- for girls: Anna, Sofia, Maria, Victoria, Darya, Veronika, Polina;
- for boys: Artem, Alexander, Maxim, Bohdan, Nazar, Dmitry.
Some of the parents decided to show originality in choosing a name for their baby. So, among the trending rare names of the first half of the year were the following:
- for boys: Achilles, Ishmael, Prince, Odysseus, Tamerlan, Osman, Solomon, Aeneas, Tsar, Moses, Rozhden, Bartholomew, Kuong Kiong, Suleiman, Xenophon, Zlatoslav.
